Porto and Lisbon ranked among top 20 global cities

In the annual ranking of the top 50 cities worldwide for 2024 by Time Out Global, which surveys residents about their experiences living, working, and enjoying leisure in these cities, both Porto and Lisbon have garnered significant recognition. Porto secures the 10th spot on the list, while Lisbon follows closely behind at 13th.
At the helm of the Time Out list sits New York, with Cape Town, Berlin, London, and Madrid trailing closely. Notably, both Porto and Lisbon surpass renowned destinations like Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Singapore, and Miami, affirming their growing appeal.
Various factors contribute to the allure of these cities, ranging from vibrant neighborhoods and affordable culinary scenes to rich cultural offerings such as art galleries, museums, and live entertainment. Additionally, residents' happiness, access to green spaces, and a strong sense of community play pivotal roles in shaping perceptions of these cities.

Porto earns its 10th place ranking for its reputation as a culinary haven where dining experiences are exceptional and libations abound. The city's designation as a "wine capital" underscores its appeal, with an overwhelming 98 percent of locals describing Porto as beautiful and 82 percent finding it romantic. The abundance of azulejo tiles adds to its charm.
Meanwhile, Lisbon secures 13th place, celebrated for its luminous ambiance, panoramic views from hilltops overlooking the River Tagus, and inviting terraces perfect for sunset appreciation. The city's proximity to beaches, just a short distance away, further enhances its allure. Time Out also highlights Lisbon's unique musical landscape, with a burgeoning summer festival scene including Rock in Rio, NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock, and MEO Kalorama, contributing to its vibrancy.
