• Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Bill 2021-22: seeks to restrict ground rents on newly created long leases of houses and flats to an annual rent of one peppercorn (a token of no financial value).

• Open Consultation 2022 - Reforming the Leasehold and Commonhold Systems in England and Wales: UK Government’s open consultation seeks views on a number of reforms to the leasehold and commonhold system following recommendations in the Law Commission’s reports published in July 2020.

• Residential Long Leaseholders - a guide to your rights and responsibilities is a guide published in 2005 by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) (formerly the Department of Communities and Local Government) detailing leaseholders’ rights and responsibilities. The guide may be outdated in some aspects but helps in the understanding of the legal concepts and laws behind long leases in simple and clear terms.
